2024 Jeep Wagoneer S Packs 600 HP and a Big Battery (2024)

  • The 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S is slated to hit dealers this fall with the Launch Edition trim and a $71,995 sticker.
  • The 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S uses a pair of electric drive modules to feed the front and rear axles for a combined 600 hp and 617 lb-ft of torque.
  • Jeep says that the Wagoneer S can sprint to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds and will offer over 300 miles of range.

While we've seen its interior, and heard a big horsepower promise, Jeep has finally pulled the curtain off the battery-electric Wagoneer S.

Based on the STLA-Large platform, this luxe BEV boasts a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system that makes 600 hp, and 617 lb-ft of torque and promises over 300 miles on a single charge. Jeep also stuffed plenty of screens and tech inside the Wagoneer S's cabin.

The heart of this Wagoneer S is the two drive modules that feed the wheels. With one drive module feeding the front axle and the second feeding the rear, this Wagoneer S comes with standard all-wheel drive and a 60-mph sprint in just 3.4 seconds, according to Jeep. Helping eke out some more range, the Jeep wheel disconnects on the front axle's drive module.

Feeding those two drive modules is a 100-kWh battery pack. According to Jeep, this battery pack can help shuffle the Wagoneer S over 300 miles on a single charge, and recharging shouldn't take too long. The company notes that with a DC fast-charger, the Wagoneer S should be able to go from a 20% state of charge to 80% in 23 minutes.

Making ownership a little easier, Jeep is planning on including a Level 2 charger or Free2move charging credits with every Wagoneer S Launch Edition.

And despite the lack of an engine under the hood, Jeep is sticking with its beloved seven-slat grille design.

As you'd expect from a battery-electric vehicle that's chasing range, the team working on designing the Wagoneer S put a lot of effort into reducing its drag coefficient. The company says that the sleek Jeep operates at 0.29 Cd. That's still bested by the Tesla Model X's claim of 0.24 Cd, but it's good enough to help the Wagoneer S travel over 300 miles on a single charge.

If you want to get a better picture of the Wagoneer S in the wild, you can take a look at the current Jeep Grand Cherokee as the Wagoneer S's dimensions are in the same ballpark.

According to Jeep, the Wagoneer S is 192.4 inches long and rides on a 113.0-inch wheelbase. That's only 1.1 inches shorter than the Grand Cherokee in length and 3.7 inches in wheelbase. The Wagoneer S is also an inch narrower than the Grand Cherokee at 83.6 inches at the widest point of the mirrors.

Like with other Wagoneers, the folks at Jeep stuffed as many screens as you think you'd probably need inside the cabin. According to Jeep, the Wagoneer S features a standard 12.3-inch driver display screen, a 10.25-inch passenger display screen, and a standard 12.3-inch center display.

The media screen and the passenger screen both run Jeep's Uconnect 5 system. Jeep says this enables the passenger touchscreen to relay directions to the media screen. The Uconnect 5 platform also means that this Jeep can accept over-the-air updates.

The Wagoneer S interior also makes good use of recycled materials, with the seating, console doors, and instrument panel surfaces featuring non-leather synthetic materials. Overhead, you'll find a microfiber headliner, and the carpeting is from more recycled materials.

The team at Jeep also includes the Stellantis Active Drive Assist hands-free driving system here. This hands-free driving system is included in the Launch Edition models, as are intersection collision assist, drowsy driver detection, traffic sign recognition, and a surround-view camera.

At the curb, the Wagoneer S tips the scales at 5,667 pounds—883 pounds heavier than the Grand Cherokee Summit. While we're sure the price tag will go down as the Wagoneer S expands its lineup, that heft is another story.

Speaking of, Jeep says that this Wagoneer S is scheduled to hit dealers this fall as a 2024 model-year vehicle, with the Launch Edition carrying a $71,995 price tag.
